A Spacious Gite In France with a Pool

By Brian Stephens

French Holidays Aude came about when we decided to quit the corporate world in the UK and adopt a more relaxed and sustainable lifestyle in the South of France.

The house in the UK was sold and we set about finding our ideal French home. When we finally found it we realised we would not be able to make an immediate move. There was work to be done, equipment to be bought and a bit of a renovation project to take on; this effectively meant a one year delay in the final move so that we could be sure of having accommodation fit for visitors and at least somewhere we could lay our heads.

So that is how the process started, some 3 years later we offer a spacious 4 bedroom gite, in our former 300 year old watermill, that has a large swimming pool, relaxing gardens and an outdoor alfresco area for barbecues. Le Moulin is just great for generally chilling out.

The gite was actually available after the first year and it had to be, because we needed to know we could at least generate some income while we went on to renovate the rest of the house and develop some alternative business interests that could supplement the income from the gite.

We are now into our third year of receiving guests and have begun to establish a number of visitors who like to return each year, something that can be a little unusual for many holiday lets in the South of France. With so many places to visit in France many people choose a different location each year.

So without doubt the gite has been a success and has not disappointed our guests when they arrive. You can review the photographs to see why, and check out the visitors guest book on our blog, Life in the France Lane, for the evidence.

We have also been able, over the 3 year period, to start to make inroads into our other business interests and develop at least some income from those. The beauty of all our interests being they are activities we have chosen to take part in and which are operated on our terms. A real bonus when you get to a certain stage of your life.

Hope you have found this article of interest and perhaps been inspired to make a change if your life isn't quite what you would like it to be. Life is too short to waste, and sometimes change is required, just make sure it is because, for example, moving to another country is not for the faint hearted.

Establishing a new life in the South of France after moving from the UK has not been completely without it's challenges. We like to think our gite in France offers superb accommodation, guest comments to date suggests it does.

Oh my, beautiful photos of the lovely countryside of France. Beautiful accommodations and the castle is awesome. Our daughter visited France and saw gorgeous vineyards there. Thanks so much for sharing.

You are very welcome, we think we are very fortunate to live here.

This intel about your gite was beautifully written, the photos were gorgeous and the accommodation prices quoted at your site seem very reasonable. If I ever have to head to France, I know where I'll go.

I have one suggestion - perhaps you could add a distance & direction from Paris / Marseilles detail.

Thankyou Andrew, I might just do that. I thought about the ferries but not the 2 biggest cities in France. Oh well you can't win them all.
